Project Overview
Problem
When the Small Business Preparendess Toolkit was originally created, no one with knowledge of the design thinking process was involved. As a result, users perceived the toolkits content to be highly useful, but 40% of them shared their difficulty with finding an navigating resources. To improve usability, users recommended expanding inclusivity, localization, and learnability.
Problem Solving Strategy
Improving findability by adding content filters, clear labels, and breadcrumbs
Improving inclusivity by enhancing PDF access
Design Process
1. Preliminary Research
I started by familiarizing myself with user goals via their persona’s, and a user research report. The report interviews and card sorting exercises. This work had been conducted by another member of the Red Cross team. I also familiarized myself with the toolkit while considering any painpoints or benefits users might experience (as a result of their goals).
2. UX Design
I then redesigned the toolkits information architecture and began to develop low fidelity wires. This process included content writing and editting.
3. Next Steps
Internal review, UI design, development, and launch
